To apply for and lodge a postal vote, the following steps must be completed. Please note the relevant deadlines and contact details for each stage.

- Download the form from: http://www.aec.gov.au/election2004/voting/postal/EF048www_1003.pdf
- E-mail a request for a form to: austembassy.bangkok@dfat.gov.au. Please ensure to specify a mailing address or fax number for the sending of the form.

By mail:

We strongly recommend that if you wish to cast a postal vote, you ensure delivery of your postal vote application to us by Wednesday 6 October at the very latest. This is to allow EMS to deliver your ballot papers in time for you to return them postmarked before the deadline of 5.00pm Bangkok time on Saturday 9 October. Please note we cannot guarantee delivery times, so postal vote applications should be lodged as early as possible especially if you live outside Bangkok. We will send ballot papers out for any postal vote application received by noon on Thursday 7 October - if the application is lodged on that day, however, the ballot papers may not reach you in time.

3. Receive your ballot papers

We send the ballot papers to you at the mailing address you have specified on your postal vote application. Please take care to ensure this is complete and correct. You will not receive ballot papers until after 27 September as this is when we will receive the ballot papers from the Australian Electoral Commission. We anticipate delivery will take approximately 2-3 days throughout Thailand by EMS express service.

4. Return the ballot papers to us

You must return your ballot papers to us by mail postmarked before 5.00pm Bangkok time on Saturday 9 October. Postal votes postmarked after this time will not be valid.
